The
goal of this course is to introduce you to the basic concepts of astronomy,
geology, and meteorology. You will be able to understand and apply concepts,
principles, and theories that pertain to the world around you.
Earth Science is the development of the
interconnectedness of Earth phenomena, processes, and systems.
A reminder that students must have 1200
minutes of lab to qualify for the regents exam.

Unit 1: Introduction to science and exploring Earth’s surface
Unit 2: Astronomy
Unit 3: Water
Unit 4: Weather, Climate and Climate Changes
Unit 5: Weathering, Erosion, and Deposition
Unit 6: Rocks and Minerals
Unit 7: Plate Tectonics, Earthquakes, and Volcanoes
Unit 9: Energy Resources
Policy for tardiness:
Three tardiness will constitute a detention that will be served during lunch or after school on a designated day.
Grading policy:
All work is assigned a numerical value based on the total points
possible.
This means that homework and class activities are just as important
as test.
Final Grades:
Each quarter grade will count for 20% of the final course
grade. All students will also take a
Mid-term and a Final, each counting 10% of the Final Course Grade.
