Social Studies 7 – 8 is a two year
chronological study of the United States and New York State. The main emphasis is on the political,
social, economic, and cultural growth and development of the country and
state. In 7th grade, the
period of pre-Columbian times to the pre-Civil War Era are studied. In 8th grade the Civil War Era to
the present is studied.
