GLOBAL HISTORY

 

          In 9th grade, Social Studies focuses on a chronologically organized study of global history.  The course traces the human experience in the world from the earliest peoples to the 1770s.  The course is designed to focus on the five social studies standards and the common the common themes that recur across time and place.  The study of World History is completed in the 10th grade.

          All students in 9th grade must take and pass this course.  This culminates in a Global History Regents Exam at the end of 10th grade.  Students must pass this exam to graduate.

 

 

 

NINTH GRADE  - Global History 9  (This is the first year of a two year course. 

          Global History 10 is the second year of the course.)

 

Introduction to the Social Sciences

Unit 1:  The First Civilizations and Empires  (Prehistory – A.D. 500)

Unit 2:  New Patterns of Civilization  (400 – 1500)

Unit 3:  The Early Modern World  (1400 – 1800)

 

          At the end of tenth grade, students are required to take and pass the Global History and Geography Regents.  This exam tests both the ninth and tenth social studies courses.

1.     A 1 – 1 ½” three ring binder (this will be used only for Social Studies)

2.     Loose leaf paper

3.     Blue or black pens

4.     A two pocket folder
