Studio Art

Topics Covered:

Studio Art is primarily an introduction to various visual art forms, tools and techniques; drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, and video production.  In addition, students will be responsible for readings and discussions about how visual arts function in our society to define culture and history, influence the design practical objects, and serve as a venue for individual expression. 

 

General Class Guidelines:

All assignments will be performed in the art room during class time.  Assignments can be made up during the extended day on Wednesdays.

 

Supplies:

All are materials and books are provided.  However, each student must bring their own no. 2 pencil.

Final Grade Calculations:

Each quarter grade will count for 20% of the Final Course Grade.  Two “class participation“ grades will be recorded each week  and will count 50% of each  quarter grade.  All students in grades 7-12 will take a Mid-term and a final each counting 10% of the Final Grade.  The Mid-Term and Final Project Assignment will given in class.  Exemptions will not be given.

 

Tardy To Class Policy:

Attendance will be recorded at the beginning of each class.  Every third time a student is tardy they will receive one detention.
