Sluman Wattles Cabin

In 1784, Sluman Wattles came to Franklin.  He traded rum for property.  He built a log cabin by the Ouleout across from where the Smith farm is now.  He went back to Bovina and brought his family here in 1785.  He is considered the first settler in the Town of Franklin.
