Walter Rich

Walter Rich is the son of George and Doretta Rich. He was born on January 9, 1946. He grew up in Franklin. He is the nephew of Lewis Hine.

He became the President and Director of The Delaware Otsego Corporation in 1971 and The New York Susquehanna and Western Railway in 1980. The NYS &W is a freight railroad. He worked hard to improve rail safety.

Mr. Rich was honored for many things and worked on many committees. He was an astute businessman.

He is responsible for the new railroad car and museum that is being built in Franklin at this time.
