Personal Teaching Philosophy

My personal teaching philosophy is to take each child as far as he or she can go within the given school year.  This includes helping each student develop the skills necessary to become lifelong learners.

Classes I Teach: *Fourth Grade Language Arts, *Fifth Grade Language Arts, *Sixth Grade Language Arts

*Courses that require New York State Tests this year

Supply List:

In order to be prepared for class, please bring with you each day:

  1. fully stocked binder (index cards, pencil pouch with pencils, sticky notes, agenda)
  2. silent reading book

Classroom Policies:

All assignments written on notebook paper need to have the proper heading.

All assignments should be completed on time.

All assignments should be checked for spelling and grammar mistakes.

Helpful Hints For Parents:

In order to support your child’s learning I recommend that each night you:

  1. Check your child’s agenda book for the daily homework assignments.
  2. Check your child’s clear “Take Home” folder.  Here you will find important notices, as well as graded assignments that should be left at home.  This folder should be cleaned out on a daily basis.
  3. Ask your child about his/her day.  “What story are you reading together in language arts?  How is your silent reading book?”
