Personal Teaching Philosophy

My personal teaching philosophy is to take each child as far as he or she can go within the given school year.  This includes helping each student develop the skills necessary to become lifelong learners.

  1. fully stocked binder (index cards, pencil pouch with pens and pencils, correct folders, agenda)
  2. silent reading book

Classroom Policies:

All final copies of writing pieces should either be typed or written in ink (blue or black).

All assignments written on notebook paper need to have the proper heading.

All assignments should be completed on time.  Late assignments will lose ten points each day.  Assignments will not be accepted after two weeks.

Helpful Hints For Parents:

In order to support your child’s learning I recommend that each night you:

  1. Check your child’s agenda book for the daily homework assignments.
  2. Check your child’s clear “Take Home” folder.  Here you will find important notices, as well as graded assignments that should be left at home.  This folder should be cleaned out on a daily basis.
  3. Ask your child about his/her day.  “What did you learn about in history today?  What story are you reading together in language arts?  How is your silent reading book?”
